To develop a brand centered around inclusive sizing & the utilization of cotton

Who is Miles & Company?

Following the requirements of the project, one was asked to create an inclusive denim brand featuring the cotton fiber and Cotton Inc.’s innovative technologies.

Miles & Company is founded upon the idea of provided elevated basics for our loyal and highly goal driven target customer.

Our company strived to take the extra step of providing elevated basics to serve a consumer who solely shops with his intentions and motivations in mind.

How are we different?

Filling this hole in the menswear market is what initially inspired Miles & Co. With the knowledge that the menswear plus size market is 87.2% smaller than the already small womenswear plus size market, our brand’s mission is to supply the menswear market with professional, contemporary collections that provide superior quality and fit for every single body type. With a wide range of sizes, Miles & Company looks to fill every consumer's need to help build up personalized wardrobes.

With a client-centric approach, we took careful consideration into what textiles and trims we would utilize to elevate the looks, all while making are pieces made to stand the test of time.

Simplicity was key to reach Miles, as we created exciting yet timeless designs constructed with high quality denim, lightweight wovens, and knits.

Process

  • The Miles & Company team utilized heavily researched data for our target customer, leading to the brand person Miles. Miles himself is a single, 28-year-old middle-class American man who works hard for what he has. He is an inconspicuous consumer who prefers elevated basics while still falls in line as a brand loyalist who can be set somewhere in between the early to late majority on the adoption curve.

  • Throughout the semester, with the help of critics and professors, our team developed our eight look debut collection titled, Origin.

    These looks were majority denim with the collection overall fabric content coming to 82% cotton and 18% synthetics.

    Extensive brand research was done using similar brands in order to discover the untapped market of inclusively size denim for men.

  • Our final, twenty minute brand pitch encompassed the key points of our collection including the line itself, important brand aspect, and marketing strategies. Here is where Miles & Company came to life, bringing you pieces that are quality, stylish, and easy to mix and match.

Outcome

Through developing Miles & Company, we were able to put into practice our culminated experience in producing a line of apparel in order to present a final three-dimensional product.

Together, we were able to hone in on our design, research, merchandise, branding, and marketing knowledge providing the viewer with a look into a new pathway into the menswear market.
